Need more space for your mails?  Gmail has got multiple inboxes for you!  Google just added a new Labs feature called Multiple inboxes which allows you to do just what it says - have multiple inboxes. You can have multiple frames in the inbox view with filtered content in each inbox. The main pane can show all the inbox content and the other panes can show filtered content like Starred mails, Drafts, Mails with a specific label, etc.

More after the break.

Here’s a view of my inbox:

The main pane on the left has the complete inbox, the top pane on the right has the starred messages and the one below has messages labelled “Blog reports”.

You can customize the contents by going to Settings -> Multiple inboxes, and entering the view you want. For example:
is:starred
is:unread
has:attachment
label:something

  • @Toni: Well, even I have issues when I check my mails on other computers such as netbooks. Even if you are at the highest resolution of your computer, it may not be the resolution needed for using the multiple inboxes.

I suggest checking out Google help center for solutions...

I'm having the same problem as Suraj, and my screen resolution is at the highest possible. I can run them under or on top of the inbox with no problems, but the side-by-side, which would be my preferred way of doing it, overlaps. Anyone find a fix for this?
  • @Suraj: I don't think that the monitor is the problem. Change your screen resolution.

My inbox looks distorted. The new panes (on the right) overlap the main inbox.
I have a square type monitor not a widescreen one. Could this be the problem? Any suggestion would be Appreciated
